     EVENT SAFETY PLAN (Communicable Disease Plan 2023)

The Wasa Triathlon has been a popular and successful event because of its dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers.
Volunteers are entered for great draw prizes, enjoy snacks and beverages on us!

Adult Race Package Handout: Friday June 10    New location: Just Liquid Sports in Cranbrook BC  Meet for instructions (open 3-8pm for Sprint/Trikids/Standard/Warrior/Teams/Aquabike)


 Saturday June 10   –  ALL VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED TO CHECK-IN at Volunteer Table prior to volunteer shift or entering venue.  Check-in located at Horseshoe Bay at Wasa Lake (Start of Transition)


ROLES for Saturday, June 10
Racer/Volunteer/Staff Check-in:
 6 am in Transition Area, Wasa.  Role: check-in athletes/Volunteers/staff, body marking, and give out timing chip.

Swim Course:  7am  meeting (check-in prior) Role: kayakers/paddleboarders/ lifeguards on water with paddle & PFD jacket guiding the swimmers along the course (own gear helpful).

Transition Zone: from 7:45 am in the Transition Area Wasa.  Role: to direct and cheer on racers!

Wetsuit Strippers:  Maybe? If we have enough volunteers lets do it!  from 8:00-9:00am just outside of the Transition Area.  Role: to assist swimmers with the removal of their wetsuit once they complete the swim portion

Run Course: from 8am  various locations on the run course.  Role: to direct and cheer on racers on the run course.

Runner Escorts on MTB: 8:30 am on run course.  Role: to follow on mtn bike the top 3 F & M runners of the Sprint Triathlon.

Bike Course: from 7:30 am at various locations on the bike course.  Role: to direct cyclists on the bike course, ensure safety and to cheer them on.

Post-race Food:  from 8:30 am Finish-line Food in Transition Area.  Role: to cut up fresh fruit and organize food on the tables for racers to eat after their race, must be able to wear food safe gloves.
