Staff of the ReadyToRace Training Camp: Depending on availability, the camp staff may consist of: Trev Williams, Barb Scatchard, Paul Anderson, Val Burke, Jay Barberie, Cherie Cooper, Kevin Nowottnick, Kevin Cutjar, Leah Taranger, Charlie Cooper, Matt Seeley, Laura Medcalf and Jay Barberie. Special guest speakers will be on hand to present specialty areas of long distance triathlon. Charlie and Cherie Cooper: Founders of the camp and residents of Kimberley, they immensely enjoy helping triathletes reach their goals. Still competing at the Elite level in ½ Iron and Ironman triathlon, they are also the proud parents of two young girls.
Trevor Williams: Trevor has been involved in the sport of Triathlon for numerous years and has reached elite status in the last two years. 2005 was a breakout year, winning the Prestige 1/2 IM for the second time, placing 2nd at the Great White North, finishing 4th at the Victoria 1/2 Iron and he topped it off by being the first amateur to cross the finisl line at IMC. Kevin Nowottnick: Kevin is the founder of the Synergy Triathlon MultiSport and the Synergy Training Centre, a first in the Kootenays of BC. He brings tonnes of coaching experience to the camp, along with his own expereinces as a triathlete. He is also a certified Sport Conditioning Coach, Personal Trainer and Indoor Cycling Instructor. Kevin is a 2005 IMC finisher. Jay Barberie: Radiologist by profession, Jay has proven to be one of the most successful and accomplished amateur triathletes in North America in the events hes entered, with top amateur finishes at IM California 2001 and IM Canada 2001. The 2003 season saw Jay record his personal best of 8 hr 37 min at IM Austria. His PB at the marathon is a 2 hr 30 min 55 sec, which placed him 2nd overall at the 2004 Vancouver International Marathon. Leah Taranger: Leah Taranger is a physiotherapist with 15 years of experience in treating musculo-skeletal and sports injuries. Her post-graduate studies have included courses in manual therapy, myofascial release, and acupuncture. Leah has competed in numerous triathlons since 1993, including two half ironman competitions. Leah just recently won the 2003 Alberta Duathlon Championship. Leah is also a resident of Kimberley. |
